Who can benefit from surrogacy programs?
According to current Ukrainian legislation, only married heterosexual couples can use infertility treatment services and surrogacy programs. This is the main and important requirement for participation in the program.
In addition, appropriate medical indications such as: are required
- The absence of the uterus or its anatomical defects that prevent pregnancy from being carried to term,
- Documented history of infertility – confirmed by an official diagnosis for a woman or man,
- The presence of serious chronic diseases that can threaten the health of a pregnant woman or child.
Analogical requirements also apply to egg and sperm donors – before joining the program, they must undergo a detailed examination and meet certain health criteria.
